Nixa High School Bulletin for Monday, September 22, 2014

Art Club Meeting Tuesday September 23rd will be our first art club meeting! It will last till 3:15 in Room 236 (Ms. Johnson’s).


PSAT The PSAT will be given Wednesday, October 15. More information and the sign-up sheet is available counseling center. The cost to take the test is $15. You can make checks payable Nixa Public Schools.


Interact Club Meeting There will be an Interact Club meeting after school on Wednesday, 9/24. This will be the last chance to pay the $15 dues.


Physics Club Meeting Physics Club meeting before and after school on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Room 281. Make-up meeting will be held the following Wednesday (September 24, 2014).


GSA Meeting The next GSA meeting will be Tuesday, September 23 after school in the lecture hall. We will be selecting freshmen reps and discussing Hillcrest High School’s movie night, a mixer with the other area GSAs, and Ally Week. Hope to see everyone there!


American Legion Scholarship Information regarding the American Legion scholarship program is available in the counseling center and on the Nixa High School Counselors’ tab on the High School website. The scholarships range from $500-$1000.


Student Ambassadors Meeting Student Ambassadors will meet on Wednesday, September 24th at 2:45 in the 3rd floor lecture hall (Rm. 311). Any student interested in joining should attend!


Spanish Honor Society Spanish Honor Society mandatory meeting Wednesday 9/24 after school or Thursday 9/25 before school


Current A+ Tutors A+ Tutors currently enrolled in tutoring class: Please report to 3rd floor lecture hall on FRIDAY, Sept. 26, during your regular tutoring time. Bring your updated time log with teacher initials.


Prudential Spirit of Community Award Any student who have participated in a volunteer service activity in the past year can apply for the 2015 Prudential Spirit of Community Award. More information and application can be found at http://spirit.prudential.com. Return the required documents to the counseling center once you have applied.


Danforth Scholarship Scholarship Opportunity: Information regarding the William H. and Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholarship from Washington University in St. Louis is available in the Counseling Center. Any student interested in attending Washington University should see Mr. Robinson or Mrs. Horgan for more details.


Megan Meier Memorial Scholarship Information regarding the Megan Meier Memorial Scholarship can be found at http://www.meganmeierfoundation.org/megan-meier-memorial-scholarship.html This scholarship is open to any senior with a 2.5 GPA who believes they have made a positive impact in regards to the issues surrounding bullying and cyberbullying in their own school environment and community. Deadline is November 7th.


College Visits A representative will be available to talk with interested students during STAR. There is a sign-up sheet in the counseling center for each college/university. Nurse For A Day Registration for the Nurse for a Day workshop is open. This workshop will help students better understand the challenging, yet rewarding, field of Nursing. Registration if on a first come, first served basis.
