High School ADMISSION Doors information... Beginning with Monday’s basketball games on Jan.19, please use the MAIN entrance and auditorium doors for games admission purposes. We will not use the entrance on the northeast corner of the building until after the construction in that area is completed.


Availability on the Spain/Italy Trip Students- There are 3 newly available spots on the Spain/ Italy trip this summer (7/8-7/16). Don’t miss this last chance to sign up for the trip of a lifetime! Attention NHS Ambassadors! Attention NHS Ambassadors! Concession work dates are Tuesday, February 3rd & Thursday, February 12th. Please plan to meet on Tuesday at 4:00 before working your concession duty at 4:30!


Library Closed On... The library will be closed on Feb 2 & 3 during 3rd,4th and 7th hours due to Acuity. Beginning next Thursday (Feb 5) ELO will be offered in the library and art room from 6:30-7:00 AM. Students will have access to computers and library resources during that time. There will not be any gaming during that time.


National History Club Meeting Today! The next NHC meeting will be today Friday 1/30/2015 from 2:45—3:45 in Mr. Matney’s room #309. We will be playing history kahoot games and checking with the availability of members regarding the trip to Kansas City for the WWI museum in March.


Applications for GSA Delegation Trip Applications to be a member of the GSA delegation going to Jefferson City for Equality Day are available from Mr. Sullivan. Any GSA member is invited to apply. The trip will be all day on Tuesday, February 17. Last year, the delegation was able to speak with several members of the Missouri House and Senate, received a private tour of the Whisper Gallery, and were introduced on the House floor.


FBLA Special Meeting FBLA Special Meeting. Very short training session on Wednesday, Feb 4 from 2:40-3:00 in room 215 for all members helping with the Crush Valentine fundraiser. District presentation practices immediately following at 3.


Scholarships James L. and Nellie M. Westlake Scholarship: Requirements are 2.5 GPA and family adjusted gross income of $50,000 or less. More information can be found at http://sms.scholarshipamerica.org/westlake/ The deadline to apply is February 1. NALS of Missouri Memorial Scholarship Award: Requirements are a 3.0 GPA. More information can be found in the counseling center or on the Counselor’s Page of the NHS website.


MO Boys State Information regarding Missouri Boys State is now available in the counseling center. Boys State is for high school juniors who have distinguished themselves as leaders in their schools. The dates for Boys State are June 13-20 and will be held at the University of Central Missouri.


Rural Electric Youth Tour High School Juniors Washington D.C. Rural Electric Youth Tour 2015: Ozark Electric is sending two high school juniors on an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. this summer, June 12-18. Simon Youth Community Scholarship The Battlefield Mall is once again partnering with Simon Youth Foundation (SYF) to bring you the Simon Youth Community Scholarship program. A one-time award of up to $1,500 will be given to one high school senior who lives within 50 miles of Battlefield Mall. The student must plan to attend an accredited university, two- or four-year college, or technical or vocational school. Additionally, an Award of Excellence – a $2,500 renewable scholarship – will be given to the top candidate from the Central region. All Community Scholarship applicants will be considered for the Award of Excellence, and only a single application needs to be completed. Students can apply online at www.syf.org


CU Success Scholarship Information regarding the 2015 CU Success Scholarship can be found on the NHS website under Counselor’s Notes. This scholarship is $1,000 non-renewable and is available to members of the Educational Community Credit Union.


Scholarship The Hawthorn Bank is offering a $1,000 scholarship to any senior interested in pursuing a career in finance or banking. More information and the application can be found on the NHS website under the Counselor’s Notes.


Scholarship Information regarding the Missouri PTA scholarship is now available in the counseling center. If interested, pick up the packet and return to the counseling center by February 9th . THE SCHOOL CAN SUBMIT ONE APPLICATION and must be submitted through the counseling center.


Ottawa Rep. A representative from Ottawa will be here on February 12th to talk with interested students during STAR. There is a sign-up sheet in the counseling center.


Missouri S&T Representative A representative from Missouri S&T will be available to talk with students during STAR on February 10th. There is a sign-up sheet in the counseling center.


Fontbonne University Representative A college representative will be here from Fontbonne University on February 25th during STAR. There is a sign-up sheet in the counseling center.


College Representatives Representatives from the following colleges will be here to talk with students during STAR. Please sign up in the counseling center. 2/19—University of Central Missouri 2/24—Columbia College


OTC Appliations OTC applications are available in the counseling center. Completed applications need to be returned by February 20.


Truman State Representative There will be a representative from Truman State University available to talk with students on March 3 during STAR. There is a sign-up sheet in the counseling center.
