Spring sports PARENT/ATHLETE meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 17 at 7:00pm in the High School auditorium. This meeting is mandatory for spring athletes UNLESS you were involved in fall or winter sports and attended one of the previous meetings. Activity fee of $35 may be paid at this meeting. Please make checks payable to Nixa High School.
COLLEGE SIGNING... On March 20 at 2:45pm in the Nixa High School Library, Trevor Edick will be signing with Evangel University for Cross Country and Track. CONGRATULATIONS!
NIXA BASS FISHING TEAM... – High School students planning on joining the Nixa Bass Fishing Team, please be present at the first meeting MARCH 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school lecture hall. Career Readiness Certificate... You can earn a nationally recognized career readiness certificate. Sign up now in the counseling center to take the WorkKeys assessment. Your performance on the assessment could earn you a career readiness certificate. The introductory rate for the assessment is $10. The price will increase next school year to $25.
Attention National Honor Society Seniors: The deadline for the National Honor Society Scholarship Essays has been extended to Wed. March 19th. For more information please pick up an information sheet located outside of Mr. Foster’s room #314. Essays must be completed and turned in to Mr. Foster by March 19th.
The Docu Drama is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9. Juniors will be dismissed by bell and or announcement.

High School Cheerleading Tryouts for the 2014-2015 school year are scheduled for March 31–April 4. There are open gym sessions scheduled to acquaint yourself with the coaches and the program, as well as, have some instruction time prior to tryouts. Open gym dates are February 24, 25, 27, March 3, 6, 17 and 24. All open gyms are scheduled for 7:30-8:30 pm in the High School auxiliary gym(North east corner of the building) and are optional not mandatory. If you plan to tryout, you will need to submit a copy of a current physical on Monday, March 31 in order to participate tryout week. Attention SOPHOMORES: If you consider yourself a leader in our school and community, you might be eligible to win an all-expense paid trip to Jefferson City to participate in The Cooperative Youth Conference & Leadership Experience (CYCLE). Summers @ Mizzou is a program designed to bring youth age 12-18 to the University of Missouri campus. Youth will have a chance to experience life as a college student by living in the dorms, eating in a dining hall and exploring campus and Columbia. These camps are great for those beginning to think about college and their future career. Summers @ Mizzou will be held July 13-17 and July 20-24. There are specific sessions for each dates. The next GSA meeting will be April 1 due to CAPS conferences on March 4 and a faculty meeting March 18. At this meeting, the students who went to Jefferson City will talk about their experience. You will also receive information about some upcoming events in Springfield. See you there!

NURSE FOR A DAY... Missouri State University Nursing Dept. will be hosting two Nurse for a Day workshops this spring. They are March 28, 2014 or April 4, 2014 from 8:30 am to 3:45 pm. Registration will be on a first come first serve basis. There is a $10.00 registration fee and the student must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Interested in Nature and Leadership?? If you are in 10th and 11th grade this year and interested in nature and leadership, please consider applying to GLADE summer leadership academy, an ALL EXPENSES PAID, residential, conservation leadership academy at the Bull Shoals Field Station from June 22-28, 2014. Missouri State’s Bull Shoals Field Station provides the backdrop for this exciting adventure. Academy activities include bird banding, habitat restoration, water quality monitoring, a leadership skills course, and much more. The Greater Ozarks Audubon Society and the Missouri State University (MSU) Biology Department host this opportunity. Application deadline is March 21, 2014.
