The Art Club meeting for April is TODAY! We will be making newsprint baskets! Come to room 228 after school! ALL ARE WELCOME!


BASEBALL MAKEUP GAME... The freshman baseball game will be played at home TODAY 5:00.


SENIORS: Sign up for the Silver Dollar City trip in the counselor’s office. The cost is $25.00 and you must be signed up by May 7, 2014.


COLLEGE SIGNING... Paige Hill will be signing with William Jewell College for swimming on April 24 at 2:45 pm in the Nixa High School Library. All are welcome to attend.


The library will be closed for student access Tuesday, April 22 through Friday, April 25 for EOC testing. The library will be open 1st lunch. Students may pick up a STAR pass from the library before school and between 1st and 2nd block.

The next GSA meeting will be Tuesday, April 29 after school in the lecture hall. This will be our next to last meeting of the year, and we will be discussing PrideFest, 2014-2015 cabinet elections, and next year’s goals. All members should try to attend!


SENIORS: Any senior needing a copy of their immunization record for college can drop by the nurse’s office to pick it up.


VOLLEYBALL next year... There will be an informational meeting on Wed, April 30 in Ms. Dorris' room right after school for any girl interested in playing volleyball next year.


Chamber Singers auditions will be held after school Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30. If you are interested in auditioning or getting more information, please see Mr. Huneycutt in the choir room.


CONGRATULATIONS to the student winners at the annual Foreign Language Field Day Competition at MSSU in Joplin on Tuesday, April 8. Nixa took 2nd place overall for Spanish competition, and Culture Bowl. Team Members Elijah Farrales, Chase Herman, Marcus Johnson, and Elijah Leffler defeated Branson in the Final Round for 1st place. CONGRATULATIONS to the following students who placed in their individual level competitions in Spanish: Nickolas Robbins-3rd place Geography, Elijah Farrales- 1st place Poetry Reading, Chase Herman and Elijah Leffler- 1st place Reading Comprehension, Makayla Nickell-2nd place Vocabulary Recognition, Grace Park-3rd place Vocabulary Recognition, Lacey Bricker and Cassidy Oitker- 2nd place Vocablulary Recogntion and in French: Lexxi LaChance-3rd place Poetry Reading, and Alex Lurvey, Emily Endacott, Katie King, and Cameron Mitchell for 3rd place French Culture Bowl.


CONGRATULATIONS to the Nixa High School Choral Program. On Tuesday, April 15, four choirs performed in the MSHSAA State Choir Festival at Nixa High School. Here are the results (1 is the best, 5 is the worst...Three judges + sight-reading).

This is the seventh year in a row that every choir from Nixa has received straight 1 ratings from every judge on the panel! This is also the eighth straight year that all four choirs have received overall 1 ratings! The tradition of excellence continues!

CONGRATULATIONS to the HS Symphonic and Concert Bands, both which earned straight "I" ratings last week at the MSHSAA State Large Ensemble Contest!


Attention students taking Algebra I, Algebra Concepts, or anyone needing to ret The math department will be providing review sessions for the End of Course Exam for these two courses. There are 3 review sessions after school from 2:40 to 3:40 on April 24th, 30th, and May 8th. There are also 3 review sessions in the evening from 6:00 to 7:30 on April 22nd, May 1st, and 7th. You may attend multiple sessions, and teachers want to encourage you to do so. Buses will run following the after school sessions for those who filled out the bus form for the after school session days. These are being sent home along with a parent letter about our End of Course Exams. To ride the bus, you must already be a bus rider and the form must be turned in by the Friday before the review session. The dates for the Algebra End of Course Exam are May 13th – 15th.


SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP INFO: Midwest Technical is offering a $1,000 dollar scholarship for eligible seniors. If you are attending Midwest Technical in the fall, stop by the counseling center for more information.


Survey Phone Call Sunday Night... On Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. the school district will be conducting a phone survey to all parents about their connectivity relating to communication, internet, and technology in a short “Yes” or “No” format. The survey will only take 5 minutes and the school administrators request that as many people as possible complete the survey to help with planning for the future.


Summers @ Mizzou is a program designed to bring youth age 12-18 to the University of Missouri campus. Youth will have a chance to experience life as a college student by living in the dorms, eating in a dining hall and exploring campus and Columbia. These camps are great for those beginning to think about college and their future career. Summers @ Mizzou will be held July 13-17 and July 20-24. There are specific sessions for each dates. These range from medical-related camps to art-related camps; outdoor biology/conservation camps, and more. If you have questions please contact Theresa Bishop by e-mail or at 573-884-0554.
